Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP) – Let It Shine

You can never have too birthday cards in my opinion, especially birthday cards with a bit of shine! Altenew’s ‘Let It Shine’ class talks about ways to make your cards shine /Sparkle… Which I already love doing.

With my Grandmother’s birthday right around the corner I created a simple but sparkly floral birthday card for her. She loves being in her garden, even in her 90s, ao I wanted to give her a garden that would last forever (as long as paper lasts) and needed no tending.

Normally I leave the sentiment untik the end, but for this card I stamped the sentiment out first so I could figure out the layout of the flowers.

I also knew I would be placing flowers that may overlap so I also made masks for each of the flowers in the stamp set using Post It notes, as I couldn’t find my masking paper.

I started out by stamping three of the largest flower using the first layer stamp in Altenew’s Crisp Dye Inks in Blush and Pink Diamond. I then added two od the mid sized flowers using the first layer stamp in ‘Blush’ and ‘Pinkalicious’.

I completed the second layer of each flowers using ‘Pinkalicious’, ‘Rubellite’, ‘Coral Bliss’ and ‘Rouge’.

I started on the coordinating stems in ‘Firefly’ for the first layer and ‘Grass Field’ for the second layer stamp.

I used the masks I had cut out for the second largest flower to help the stems of the largest flower appear behind.

I stamped the centers of the flowers using ‘Citrus Burst’ and ‘Autumn Blaze’ for a bright pop of colour.

I knew I wanted a lovely shiny frame around the image, so I used Altenew’s ‘Fine Frames’ Cover die to cut some gold foil specialty paper. This die set cuts out several thin frames in varying sizes. The ones I didn’t use on this project I’ll definitely save for other cards.

I added the second largest frame to the front of the panel measuring approximately 4×5.25 inches. For some added sparkle I added Nuvo Glitter Drops in White Blizzard in the centers of the flowers for some added Sparkle.

I also added some Gold Sparkle Crystals from Studio Katia to add another elements of Sparkle without being too much.

All done! Happy Birthday Grandma! ♥️
