Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP) – For The Guys

Masculine cards tend to be a struggle for me because the stereotypical image of a masculine card has cars and tools and it’s really not the style of the guys I typically make cards for. I wanted a simple yet masculine card for a friend of mine with an upcoming birthday. I LOVE geometric shapes as they usually give a nice clean look. So I grabbed Altenew’s Halftone Circle stamp set and some great colours of their dye inks and got to work.

I started with a mid sized circle and stamped randomly over my card panel using Aqualicious (I LOVE this colour).

I grabbed the next smallest circle stamp and used Sikver Stone to start filling in some space on the panel.

Using the smallest circle in the set I added Crimson on the card panel. Realizing that I needed more coverage on the panel I added some more Silver Stone and Aqualicious until I was happy with the coverage.

Then I got to work on the sentiment. I grabbed a strip of Simon Says Stamp’s Cardstock in Fog and stamped Happy Birthday from Altenew’s i89 in Jet Black.

I grabbed a sheet of Gina K’s Cardstock in In The Navy and cut down a panel measuring approximately 4×5.25 inches.

At this point I thought the sentiment strip needed a little something. So I grabbed a strip of Simon Says Stamp’s Cardstock in Schoolhouse Red to back the sentiment strip addinf a pop of colour.

I trimmed down the dotted panel to approximately 3.75×5 inches and backed it with the In The Navy panel. Then I added everything to a Neenah Solar white card base measuring approximately 4.25×5.5 inches. DONE!

Cardstock stash expansion!

So.. I LOVE paper… Cardstock in particular. I love having a million different colours and i use most of them. But i was finding that i didn’t have the range of colours i was looking for. In comes my Simon Says Stamp’s monthly card kit. Every month they include a few sheets of their brand of cardstock and some envelopes. Now i don’t usually buy coloured envelopes (trying to save a little cash) but i can say they are lovely envelopes.

But the cardstock… Ohhhhhh the cardstock! The colours are AMAZING… I was in LOVE! The paper is a wonderful weight and thr colours match most of my Simon Says Stamp’s inks. So I ordered some… I started with the variety pack and picked up extras of Colours that i found i was really using. I also had heard great things about the Gina K Designs cardstock.. So i ordered some of those as well. I ordered from both the Gina K website as well as from Simon Says Stamp (SSS).

Having both the Gina K and SSS cardstocks expands my collection beautifully. There are a couple of colours that close in both lines that i consider to be overlapping, but otherwise the collections complement each other perfectly.

I also picked up a few colours of Lawn Fawn paper to try.
