As a loyal Altenew customer they sent me a beautiful stamp set. I do intend to use this stamp set more than once!
I really love the way my first project turned out! Interested in trying out some Altenew products? Check the product list below for a special 10% off link!
I started with an A2 sized panel of Simon Says Stamp Smoke cardstock and the Altenew Wild Leopard Stencil. I’ve never used this stencil before but I absolutely love it! I taped the stencil down to my panel and placed it inside of a box to protect my work space. Then I used Altenew’s Ink Spray in Antique Silver – also a new product for me – to spray across my stencil. I sprayed a few times to ensure coverage. Next time I use the sprays, i’ll use something like Pixie Spray to keep the stencil better adhered to the panel as it did curl a bit when I applied the spray.
Then I set my panel aside to dry – it really only took about 10 minutes to fully dry.
Then I started on my stamp detail. I used my Altenew gift stamp and Altenew’s Permanent Crisp Black Ink on an A2 panel of Neenah Solar White cardstock. I like using Altenew’s Permanent Black ink as it’s alcohol marker friendly and I wanted to work on my alcohol marker skills.
I used several colours from the Altenew Artist Markers set to colour in my flowers and leaves. I’m starting to get more comfortable using the alcohol markers – and while I’m by no means amazing at it I do think the image came out very nicely! I cut out my image and then set it aside.
To add a bit more interest/texture to my card, I used the leaf dies from the Altenew Weekend Doodles stamp and die set and Simon Says Stamp Vellum to create some vellum leaves.
I dry fitted everything together to ensure my placement and layout of everything on the leopard panel. Then I used the good old “Press and Seal Trick”. I grabbed a piece of press and seal, and placed over top of my layout and gently rubbed it to ensure a light tack. This way, my layout stays intact while move forward with my card.
For the sentiment, I opted to use the Birch Press Design Handwritten Hello and Outline Die. For the Hello sentiment I used Simon Says cardstock in Black, and Simon Says Stamp Vellum for the outline/shadow.
I glued the two together and adhered it to the bottom right of my panel after trimming down the leopard panel to approximately 3.75×5 inches.
I added some 3M foam tape to the back of my floral arrangement to give it some dimension on the panel, then used my press and seal to place it back onto the panel in the exact layout i wanted and pressed it down.
Then I cut down a panel of Simon Says cardstock in Black to approximately 4×5.25 inches and adhered my leopard panel to it. Then added everything to an A2 card base of Neenah Solar White cardstock.
To create a coordinating envelope, I stamped the same floral image on the bottom left of the envelope and coloured it in using the alcohol markers again. Then on the flap of the envelope I used the “made with love” from the stamp set as well as a one of the hearts and Altenew’s Crisp Dye Ink in Coral Berry and stamped it three times.
Voila! My first card using my Altenew gift stamp set and the first of many using up my stash 🙂
I’m definitely liking the ink spray as they’re easy to work with and dry quickly – definitely a keep!
