As I pick and choose my 5 classes as a part Level 3 for the Altenew Educator Certification Program, I am drawn to certain techniques in particular. Altenew’s ‘Easy as ABC‘ class, was one of them. First of all…I think Therese Calvird is a fantastic instructor and this class is no different. There’s a lot of various way to use sentiments, letter dies, word dies, etc. and this class teaches you a few way to make those pop on your cards. I opted to use a sentiment stamp to create a background for my birthday card.
I started off by taking a ‘happy birthday’ sentiment from Altenew’s birthday builder stamp set and a stamp block from Simon Says Stamp to create a delicate background. I selected a very feminine but solid sentiment and Altenew’s Dew Drops Crisp Dye Ink and repeatedly stamped the sentiment at a diagonal for a bit of detail and added dimension.
I wanted a nice, bold image to go along with my stunning new background, so I opted for Altenew’s Regal Beauty stamp set. I started with Altenew’s Orange Cream Crisp Dye Ink for the first layer of the large flower in the stamp set.
I used Autumn Blaze ink to stamp the second layer, and Fire Brick ink for the third layer.
I stamped a pair of leaves to go along with my beautiful flower. I stamped the first layer and second layers with Mountain Mist and Volcano Lake respectively.
For the final layer of the leaves I used Turquoise ink for a bit of contrast.
I used the coordinating dies to cut out the flower and leaves and set aside as I prepped the rest of the card. I grabbed a piece of Simon Says Stamp black cardstock and Brutus Monroe’s Penny Embossing Powder-. I cut down the strip and adhered it to the background panel using Simon Says Stamp’s Big Momma Foam Tape.
I cut down a panel of Simon Says Stamp’s Orange Peel cardstock to approximately 4×5.25 inches and adhered the stamped panel to it.
I adhered the flower and leaves to the front of the card using Simon Says Stamps Big Momma Foam Tape at an angle that matches the stamped sentiment. Then I adhered everything to an A2 sized card base of Neenah Solar White Cardstock. Then for a touch of bling, I added a few of Studio Katia’s Icy Sparkle Crystals.
I stamped the same Flower image onto a white coordinating envelope and done.
