Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP) – Polychromatic

Colour, colour and more colour! What about different shades of the same colour? Also known as monochromatic. I know, I know…the first thing you think of when you hear ‘monochromatic’ is grey, black….white? It doesn’t have to be limited to that however. As a part of the Altenew Educator Certification Program I’ve taken a lot of very interesting classes. Another one is called ‘Polychromatic‘ – essentially colour! I’ve been doing a lot of projects with pops of colour and I thought it would be a great idea to challenge myself a bit and try something I’ve never actually done before..so…below is a card that’s my take on monochromatic.

I started off with Altenew’s Scribbled Flowers stamp set. Instead of starting off with my usual Neenah Solar White cardstock I started off with an A2 sized panel of Gina K. Cardstock – Sweet Mango.

I wanted an image that wasn’t overly crisp to help give a more organic and artsy feel to the card. This stamp set is perfect for that. I used the largest flower in the stamp set, which has two layers. I stamped the first layer using Altenew’s Sunkissed Crisp Dye Ink.

I opted to go one shade darker for the second layer so I grabbed Altenew’s Snapdragon Crisp Dye Ink.

For the sentiment I opted to do a birthday sentiment, so I used Altenew’s – Birthday Builder stamp set. I heat embossed the sentiment using Versamark and Brutus Monroe’s Gilded Embossing Powder on a strip of Simon Says Stamps Vellum. Then I used Simon Says Stamp’s Sentiment Label Dies to get a clean cut on the sentiment strip.

I cut down my stamped panel to approximately 3.75×5 inches, then I adhered the sentiment strip to the bottom right portion of the panel. In order to adhere the vellum strip to the stamped panel, I added a few drops of liquid glue behind the head embossed letters, then I wrapped the right end of the sentiment strip and glued it down on the back of the panel to ensure it’s secure.

I stamped the same flower on the coordinating envelope.

Then I opted to add a few of Studio Katia’s Sparkling Crystals on the left side of the card only.

It’s a simple card that uses one shade of orange for a pop of colour.
