I love layered floral stamp sets and Altenew has tons of them! I’ve always liked the depth you can get from them but have always struggled with floral arrangements on cards. This is partly because I have not had the best of luck with masking.
Well..for Altenew’s All About Layering 1 class I thought I’d give it a try again. I think it turned out fairly well.
First thing first…. Creating masks. I used Gina K Designs Masking Magic for the first time for this project. Using the first layer of each stamp I used Altenew’s Morning Frost Ink cube to stamp on the masking magic sheet. Then I fussy cut the images out so I’d have one mask for each image in the stamp set.
I didn’t have an exact plan in mind but I knew I wanted the florals to flow across the left side of the card. So i started with the flowers and stamped out two of each size, starting with the largest and working my way through the medium and then the smallest flower. I used a variety of colours but made sure they went well together… Mostly pinks and peaches. I used all three layers of the stamps to get beautiful detail on tbe flowers.
Then it was on to the leaves to help. Fill in the space between the flowers. Using the masks I had made at the start, I made sure to cover the flowers around the leaves I would be stamping.
I varied the leaves by mixing up which layers I used. For some leaves I only used the first two layers or second and third layers and for the rest I used all three layers.
I stamped a simple ‘hello’ from the same stamp set
I used Tonic’s Nuvo Shimmer pen to add a bit of Sparkle to the flowers and then trimmed the panel down to approximately 5×3.75″. I mounted the panel onto a piece of Simon Says Stamp’s Cotton Candy cardstock measuring 5.25×4″.
I backed the panel with some craft foam and mounted onto a 5.5×4.25″ notecard from Neenah Solar White cardstock… Voila!
